CO2 emissions from a gallon of gasoline = 2,421 grams x 0.99 x (44/12) = 8,788 grams = 8.8 kg/gallon = 19.4 pounds/gallon

CO2 emissions from a gallon of diesel = 2,778 grams x 0.99 x (44/12) = 10,084 grams = 10.1 kg/gallon = 22.2 pounds/gallon

Multiply the number of gallons of fuel used during a year by the CO2 emissions per gallon to calculate your annual CO2 emissions. (example= 100 gallons of gasoline used per year x 19.4 = 194.0 CO2 emissions)

Biodiesel= Biodiesel in its pure form is known as "neat biodiesel" or B100, but it can also be blended with conventional diesel, most commonly as B5 (5 percent biodiesel and 95 percent diesel) and B20 (20 percent biodiesel and 80 percent diesel). Biodiesel is registered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and is legal for use at any blend level in both highway and non-road diesel vehicles.

B100 reduces lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions by more than 50 percent, while B20 reduces Green House Gas emissions by at least 10 percent.
